Our humble beginnings date back to 1950 when Harold and Jeanne Barnes planted their first rose bushes - 11,000 of them! From there, we branched out from roses to ornamental trees, eventually expanding into the company we are today. The Barnes Nursery Story
In 1950, Harold and Jeanne Barnes planted 11,000 rose bushes, their first of many, which symbolize the start of Barnes Nursery. Those 11,000 eventually grew to 150,000 during the peak of the rose business, but the Barnes family moved out of it a few years later into ornamental and shade tree plantings.
Harold and Jeanne's son, Bob, and his wife, Sharon, continued growing the business and expanded into composting, establishing one of the most successful facilities in the state. From the humble, rosy beginning of the company to the third generation, Jarret and Julie Barnes Foster who runs it today, we continue to expand and build on the dream we were founded from.
